Sheep Shaver an open source emulator for PPC Macintoshes. This has become of particular interest to be able to run several legacy Mac applications developed in the department. Notably FractalASM and SaddleDrop, developed under the aegis of John Hubbard.

SheepShaver on the Mac

    Unzips to a folder named SheepShaver-2.3 containing a Universal Binary of Mac SheepShaver.
  • Unzip to your home folder and run the SheepShaverGUI application to set it up.
  • The SheepShaverGUI application produces a hidden configuration file, .sheepshaver_prefs in your home directory.
  • See the sample below for a suggested configuration.

Sample Configuration File /Users/Guest/.sheepshaver_prefs try it out with the Guest account under Leopard (which is deleted when you log out) or change Guest to your username.
